Time for the long-overdue part 2 to my previous post... So! The Click/The Click Deluxe. Will my rating be higher? Lower? Read on to find out.
Overture: Much better than the one from Living Room. The way the songs are mixed will leave the listener excited for the album. 8/10.
The Good Part: The lyrics, the instruments... It all meshes well. If you can't tell, I'm much better at picking apart songs than praising them, lol. 10/10.
Weak: An energetic song with a nice message. 10/10.
Sober Up: My absolute favorite. 10/10.
Drama: Not the best song on the album, to be honest. I don't really find the instruments too good; it sounds too much like a mess. I guess drama is messy, but it knocks the song down a few pegs. The lyrics are also not my cup of tea. 5/10.
Turning Out: Rather nice song. Great to have a song about deciding the idea of a relationship. By that alone, it makes it more memorable. 8/10.
No Grass Today: Amusing but bland. 5/10.
Three-Thirty: Eh, not a fan of rap, personally. The instrumental is a tad bit repetitive. 6/10.
Call My Dad: You're either in two groups for this song: You like how unique it is and how it defies the norms of a song, or you think it's meh. I'm in the latter. AJR songs cannot be isolated between lyrics and instrumental. Remove one and the other is affected. Thus, the lyrics leave a lesser impact than if there was an instrumental. Not only that, but I hate autotune, and the whole song is that way. 3/10.
I'm Not Famous: I forget this one exists until it comes on. 5/10.
Netflix Trip: An absolute banger. I've never watched The Office, but I didn't know that a song about it could be so good. 10/10.
Bud Like You: Eh. Pirates learned dubstep. That's all I remember from this one. 6/10.
Come Hang Out: A nice conclusion to the original album. I wish the song were a little more connected, though. 10/10.
Burn the House Down: That trumpet... What else must I say? 10/10.
Role Models: It's sad that people forget about this one. The names do date it, but other than that, perfect. 9/10.
Normal: A depressing song for people who can feel depressed by music, which is not me. So, that doesn't knock it down a few pegs. It's nice to have a slow song for once. Modern music is energetic and fast-paced, but having a slow melody is refreshing. 8/10.
Pretender (Acoustic): Infinitely better than the original, but I suppose that is easy to accomplish. Not much to say, sadly. 7/10.
Totaling the numbers, we get the average rating of the album: 7.6.
Final thoughts: The album is a vast improvement, but the misses are still there. The album could also use more connections between songs, as, at the moment, it's nothing more than a jumble of tracks. There are plenty of bangers mixed in with lesser tracks. Now, we move on to Neotheater, which is praised as being one of their best.
