Ryan Joshua Met (formerly Metzger) is a musician and the second oldest of the AJR brothers. Ryan plays the ukulele, keyboards, synthesizers, trumpet, drums, percussion, and provides vocals, samples, and programming. He is also the main producer of most of their songs.
Ryan attended Columbia University for one year before the fame of AJR hit. He was born on March 3, 1994, and is currently 30 years old. He has a fiancée named Catharina Capps, also known as Cat, whom he had been dating for over two years before proposing.[1] He is "culturally Jewish."
Ryan has a neurological condition called synesthesia, where (in this particular case) he sees/visualizes colors, shapes and textures with sounds. This condition plays a role in the production of songs and in the color scheme for music videos such as the video for "Bang!".
Ryan was doing weekly "breakdown" live streams, where he went in-depth for certain AJR songs, talked about the production, and shared tips and stories from creating the songs. He has since stopped and has not given word about whether or not he will do them again. All of the past breakdowns can be found on the AJR YouTube channel.
