“The World is a Marble Heart” is the 10th track on AJR's 1st album, Living Room, and the 2nd track on the EP, AJR.
Its first release featured a bridge, which has since been replaced by spokestep. The remastered also contains much more electronic effects added onto the song.
This song expresses the frustrations of jealousy after a breakup. A cynical tone is used throughout the lyrics of this song, depicting the world as a cruel and harsh place.

Due to it being released on the AJR EP, this song is the oldest publicly available AJR song, as all other songs prior to the I'm Ready EP have since been removed from the internet.
The Living Room version (or a similar version with spoke-step) is known to have been made as early as 2013 due to a video of AJR performing it (0:00 - 2:00) having been uploaded.
This song used to have a Music Video and a Lyric Video. The music video included them playing the song in a garage.
There are 3 known versions of this song: the original master on the AJR EP, the first remastered version on 6foot1’s CD release, and the second remastered version on Living Room.
